Welcome to www.hudsoncollector.com. This site is owned and administered by me - Ryan Ankney, with some bigtime help from my Son, Dan. While I will pay for and administer this site, resulting in some of the content focusing around my own personal involvement in the Hudson car hobby, I envision much more than that for these pages. My goal is to make these pages an interesting place to explore the Hudson experience, not only for the long-time Hudsonite, but also for the new recruit who is merely curious as to what it is that makes this marque so different from all the others out there. For example, the forums are intentionally set up in such a way that anyone interested in Hudson cars can use them to promote their own agenda with respect to the marque, free of charge of course, and even without any input from me. Anyone can make this site a place to show the world his or her own accomplishments as well, with text, ads, pictures, exchange of ideas, or whatever one wishes. If its Hudson related, you can bet we will all be more than interested, and undoubtedly the richer for it.

There is something very unique about the Hudson experience, -- something that is very difficult to put a finger on exactly, but one that every long-time Hudsonite knows, and every new convert quickly discovers. Perhaps its the fact that the Hudson hobby is not always just about money, but a lot about sharing, and people, and family, and a genuine love for a wonderfull old automobile, and yes, even a sense of great loss, now that the marque is gone forever, at least as it was. Most of us in the hobby today would still be buying Hudsons brand new off the dealer's lots if we could do so, and we cherish the nostalgia, and for some of us, the memories, of the time that we could.

I also believe that the Hudson marque today is a bit of a "sleeper" in the car collector hobby, -- something that a lot of car nuts have yet to "discover", but when they do, they are amazed by what's been right under their noses all along, and quickly develop an unbridled appreciation of these great cars, especially after they take the plunge and buy or drive one. Maybe its because of this, and to the delight of every Hudnut out there, is the fact that we can still find the odd old Hudson tucked away in a barn or yard and sometimes even out in the bush, -- and best of all, we can still afford at least some of them !! Dreams are just fine, and we all have dreams, and a Hudson can still be a "dream come true" for a lot of us! What more could you ask of a hobby than that ?? I should note however, that having said that at least some Hudsons are still affordable, I've noticed the prices gradually edging up there, and it probably won't be too long before they too, get into the high end of the spectrum, especially as the supply of unrestored project cars steadily dwindles. Better grab one now if money is any kind of a factor in your decision!

And speaking of dreams, there is one aspect of the hobby that vitually all car nuts share, and that's the dream of one day stumbling over a "diamond in the rough" somewhere, -- that tired old dust covered, maybe mouse nest infested Hudson Convertible, Coupe, Sedan, or even Pickup, that has been neglected, forgotten, or ignored. There is a section in the Forums called "Car Spotter" where you can delight the hearts of Hudsonites all over the world by posting a picture there of a Hudson you've spotted in a yard, or a barn, or a feild or anywhere else, and showing us all there is still "treasure" out there waiting to be found.

Ohhh! --- You don't want to give away your secret ?? No problem! C'mon you Guy's -- then tease us a bit !! You don't have to tell us who you are, where you live, or where the car is! We'd just appreciate you sharing with us the joy of your discovery, and in doing so you'll be enriching all of us and the hobby itself. You can post the pics anonymously yourself if you so wish, or email them to me and I'll do the posting for you.

I personally, am a self proclaimed die-hard Hudnut, and am hoping this site will help promote and preserve some of the character, uniqueness, beauty, and history, of these truly great cars. I truly love these cars, and wish to restore and preserve them for not only my own pleasure, but also for generations yet to come, so that they too, can see just what it was that made these cars so very special. My dream is to someday see my Grandchildren develop a love for these old beauties like I do, and cherish them for many, many future generations yet unborn.

Anyway, let's get started !! If you want to know more about me personally, or to find a link to my email address, click on "About Me" at the top of this page. If its technical info you're after, try the "Technical" section in the Forums. If its old unrestored or "undiscovered" cars that interest you, try "Fallen Stars" in the Forums, or try "Links" at the top of this page for some other awesome Hudson sites all over the globe.

This site is still young and growing steadily, so come back often and see what's new! Feedback is very welcome, either positive or negative, as it will do nothing but make the site better!! Meanwhile, --- have fun!!

Ryan.
